War Museum, Ottawa, Ontario
Opened in May 2005, the most recent addition to Canadaís family of national museums, the Canadian War Museum takes the visitor on a journey through the personal, national and international dimensions of Canadaís military history.
The Museumís unparalleled collection, ranging from medals and works of art to military artillery, including a CF-Voodoo jet fighter, brings home the moving first-hand accounts of the women, men and children who lived through conflicts that have shaped Canada, Canadians and the world.
Its first "Canadian Experience" gallery introduces the concept of war and its relevance to Canadians and Canada. Visitors explore the Canadian experience of conflict from aboriginal warfare and post European-contact Canada, to Louis Riel and the Northwest Resistance of 1885.
