Lyngen in Troms county is located on the Lyngen peninsula, with Ullsfjord to the west and Lyngen fjord to the east, from which it took its name.
The Lyngen peninsula is a very scenic and mountainous area, known as the Lyngen Alps, with the highest peaks in Troms county, Jiehkkevarri, 1,833 metres high.
Visitors to the area enjoy wilderness walks, guided tours, fishing trips out on the fjord, dog sledding, ski towing behind snowscooter (snowmobile), outdoor camps, boat hire and farm visits.
