Kumano Sanzan, Kumano ancient road, Wakayama prefecture

The Kumano Sanzan shrine complex in Wakayama prefecture is the point of origin of the Kumano cult.

The three Kumano Sanzan shrines are connected to each other by the pilgrimage route known as "Kumano Sankeimichi".

The Kumano area has been considered a place of physical healing since prehistoric times, and it is still a popular pilgrimage destination.
